Before spark plug replacement, clean debris with a quick spray. Your new spark plug should be gapped to factory specifications and a thin layer of anti-seize applied to the threads on the spark plug will prevent it from seizing into the cylinder head. Upon installation, it should be snugged and torqued to factory specifications. Before reinstalling the plug wire, both ends, not only the boot that goes to the plug, but the connection to the coil should be inspected for rubber condition, any type of road debris, and proper fitment to the plug and to the coil. These plug wires must stay where they belong. Top wire should go to the rear plug. Bottom wire should go to the front plug. This is due to Harley Davidson's new single-fire ignition system.
