Mike has his FL Shovelhead on the lift and is set up for a demonstration of drive chain maintenance and replacement. A drive chain requires more maintenance than a belt drive configuration. Or, as Mike would say, “You have to babysit it more.”
Chain maintenance is extremely important. A badly worn chain will cause premature wear to sprockets, hamper performance, and can be seriously dangerous for the rider. In this video, Mike explains the importance of drive chain maintenance and demonstrates how to correctly remove and replace a chain. He also goes through the process of chain tension and alignment.
