All right. So what we're gonna look at right now is a spring, spring or front end with a drum brake. Ok. What we're looking at here is how to adjust these things and how to get them set up properly. This one, we got it off the ground and here and now I can already tell it's dragging. That's the noise of the brake shoes kinda screeching on the brake drum. Usually when it's at rest, you should have a little bit of wiggle room here. You notice this cam is already pulled tight. That means it's pushing your brake shoes out and there's no, they're not released all the way and they're, they're being held out. So we're gonna do is crack this lock nut here, loosen that up. So that now we can put our seven or three eights on here. And what we're gonna do is we're gonna, um, raise this up to give us some slack to allow this to have a little bit of free play to go down. So backing this off, you can see it starting to drop as I do this already. So now you can tell I already have a lot more. And that's probably you don't want too much because you don't wanna be grabbing that break and not have enough throw. But again, the way you saw it before it was so tight that the shoes are being pushed. So there you can see now I have it and it's still squeal a little bit. But there's a reason for that. Our, our drum brake shoes in there, there's a pivot point and this, this right here is a cam. It's your centering cam. So what we found on this bike is this one was loose. So that means our brake shoes in there are kind of free floating around. They're not locked in where they should be. So I think that's part of the issue there. So, and you can even see it, it moves around back and forth as I'm spinning this tire. So now that we know we got enough a little bit of wiggle room there, we're gonna tighten up our lock night again and this is usually a two man job. You'd wanna spin this tire really fast and then clamp down on the front brake and then you tighten this bolt up. So I'm gonna see if I can do this by myself. I'm gonna check my brake, spin this really fast. Lock the break up. Now I'm gonna hold this down. You don't wanna release your pressure and then you're gonna oh tighten that B ok. No, you can tell. So Now, what I'm gonna do is loosen or locking it again and I'm gonna give myself a little bit more slack in there. So, being that we're not losing that squealing noise means that, uh, we probably would wanna take this front break apart. Get in there, clean the shoes. See what the drum looks like. There may be some rust or something in there that's causing it to wind, make sure all your bearings look good. Um And actually looking at this break, I can see that the backing plates a little bit cockeyed. It's not in their straight. So there may be some actual spacing issues with this one. But overall, like I said, you wanna make sure that's locked in and then adjust this just so you have enough play and once you see that you have a little bit of wiggle room, so, you know, they're releasing all the way, test it, make sure it grabs and your brake is adjusted. So a little bit of a drum brake tip stuff you wanna look at if you have an old spring fork drum brake.
