Paughco Springer Install
Bob LaRosa & Mark DiPietroDescription
Bob and Mark were excited to get their hands on this beautiful black powder coated Paughco springer front end. Paughco utilizes Harley Davidson original manufacturer hardware for the majority of their springer front ends. This works out great for an owner. Especially, when it comes to maintenance or repair.
Like any Harley Davidson Springer that is 93 & newer, this Paughco springer front end has a floating front fender. The Paughco front caliper bracket is manufactured to fit a stock Harley Davidson caliper which fits over a stock rotor, on a 21″ wheel.
With the lower neck bearing already packed and pressed onto the neck stem, the Paughco springer assembly is ready to be introduced to the Softail frame. Mating these components is easiest when the front of the frame is lifted on a flat jack. Start the stem into the neck, then begin lowering the the motorcycle down over the springer fork. Once the neck stem is fully inserted, the top bearing and dust shield can be installed, followed by the tensioning/adjusting nut.
The Springer style front end is one of the earliest motorcycle front end designs.
Other early designs were:
The Girder Fork, Hub Centre Steering (Ner-A-Car), Trailing Link Fork and, of course, The Telescopic Fork.
