Welcome to Ride and Rally with Fix My Hog. Brought to you by Gatorz Eyewear fit, form, function proudly made in the USA. Footwear provided by Harley-Davidson footwear. How's it going everybody I'm Nate, and you're watching Fix My Hog. So as you can tell, I'm here at my shop with all my riding gear. So I'm going on another ride report. I'm headed down to New Orleans, one of the best cities for culture and also some great riding comes out of there. I can't wait to hit the bayous. I'm going to cross over into Mississippi hit the beaches and almost make it to Florida. The plan is to go, just pass Mobile, Alabama before heading back. I've only got one day on a bike available. So I'm going to head into New Orleans, Eagle rider pick up a brand new 2018 softail I have not ridden one yet but I absolutely is on the, to do list and I can't wait to get on a bike. So I was checking the weather, getting ready for this ride. And it seems like there's going to be isolated thunderstorms and it's going to be pretty hot. So you're gonna need to look at what I've got going on here. Our Kevlar jeans for safety per usual, and for this I'm going to be taking my Kevlar riding jacket as opposed to my leather jacket. It's a lot cooler. It's a lot less dense. It's more lightweight, which definitely helps in riding those hot weather conditions. However, because it is a flannel on the outside it could get wet really bad with those isolated thunderstorms. So I'm going to be taking a nice, bright yellow poncho for not only keeping me dry, but also aiding other drivers in visibility, and seeing me on the bike, As I say with all trips brings two pair of gloves. Cause if it starts raining and these get all wet and gross you're not going to want to wear them. It's going to be uncomfortable. And safety is going to become an issue. So I'm bringing my normal just regular black riding gloves and then I'll be taking some deer skin gloves. However, these ones are unlined. So they're a lot cooler than my my Insulet riding other gloves. You got the brand bucket for usual. And for this trip because of the thunderstorms I might be taking a bandana with me to wrap around my face in case it starts raining really hard. Cause you guys know that if you ride like a half helmet or a three quarter or no helmet and raindrops in the face at 70 are no joke. So I'm going to get this stuff packed up and head to the airport and we'll see you down in New Orleans. So if you're going from New Orleans into Florida, you know the map is gonna tell you to take I-10. However, I'm not a big fan of freeways. You don't get to see much. So I found highway 90, which goes from New Orleans goes through all the bayous, which are awesome riding. And then you cut into Mississippi and you go through past the Pass Christian and Biloxi. The route actually cuts out by the beach which gives you an incredible view of the gulf. The Palm trees is mean it's just, it is killer. I would never take highway 10 again. The weather, the weather was a little much, you know riding in Minnesota all the time. It gets hot in August. You know, this Southern heat. I was not prepared for that. And I actually had to ditch my Kevlar jacket because I was overheating it was becoming unsafe. So if you're gonna go on a trip down to those areas and it's gonna to be that hot, you know you might want to check out your options of like a mesh Kevlar riding jacket to make sure you stay safe whilst also not overheating. The bike was the highlight of the trip. I'd like I said, I'd never ridden a Heritage Softail before and coming in at 738 and a half pounds. I really wasn't expecting much in terms of performance besides just being a super comfortable kinda chill ride. But again, completely proven wrong. It had a stop at 107 Milwaukee, an engine that actually had a fair amount of get up and go for ripping through the bayous. All right, Harley [Inaudible 00:03:29] This bike weighs 750 pounds and that's pretty impressive. If you've never ridden a Heritage Softail the new Milwaukee eight with a 107. I highly recommend getting on one. And if you own one and you've modded it and you've made it even faster. That's, I think that's where it's at right there. So anyways, that's it. I hope you enjoyed watching and until next time, right. Ride safe, ride safe and we'll see you on the road.
