Nate BeckDescription
Mama Tried Motorcycle Show is an indoor invitational that connects motorcycles and builders to fans and riders alike. Keeping the fire stoked all winter long. The Show features over 100 motorcycles from builders of all calibers—flat-tracker, hill climber, chopper, and bar hopper.
What's up, everybody? I'm Nate Beck and you're watching Fix My Hog. So today we're bringing you a special. We're on the way to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to check out the Mama Tried Motorcycle Show. Mama Tried started a few years ago celebrating the ethos of home built choppers from the Midwest.
Now it's grown into such a big show, they're actually taking over The Rave/Eagle's Ballroom in Milwaukee. The list of builders this year is insane, but a few of my favorites are gonna be there. Prism Supply Co., out of North Carolina. We got Oliver Peck, the famous tattoo artist. We got Ryan Grossman, who you might know from "21 Days Under The Sky".
But what you might not know, is that FX actually had him build Jax Teller or Charlie Hunnam's bike for "Sons of Anarchy". He's got a bike there, as well as my buddy Pat Jansen from Sin Central Cycles. He was in a biker build-off earlier this year, and normally a Harley guy, he actually built a 10-foot long chopper powered by a Royal Enfield single piston. So we're going to check those chops out as well as a bunch of other stuff, so stay tuned and we'll see you on the inside. So today we're here at the Mama Tried Motorcycle Show.
Mama Tried began a few years ago and is one of the epitome chopper shows to check out if you're a Harley Davidson enthusiast. So today it's grown so much that we're here at the Rave in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. So let's head on in to check some chops out. So as you can see, Mama Tried is absolutely insane. There's tons of people here.
The Rave is packed, and there's tons of great Harleys. However, this next one I'm going to show you is actually a Royal Enfield. My buddy, Pat Jensen, from Sin Central Cycles built it. It was the Royal Enfield build-off. He had five, five weeks to do it Three months total, that's including paint, chrome, and all that.
So what he did was, everyone was doing this build-off to do with cafe racers, and he saw a 10-foot chopper. So I'm going to spin this around and shoot it for you. Is that Royal Enfield? Yeah Is that the Royal Enfield? It is.
[Nate} And It's bad ass too, Huh? Yeah. I commissioned it. Are you having fun at Mama Tried? I am.
I'm having a blast. Good. Awesome. So check this out. He did his own frame.
He used the back end of a Shovelhead. And made his own girder front. Pat man, you did a fantastic job on this bike. Sitting here in front of me is a 47 FL Knucklehead from Denvers Choppers. The owner Ben Boog is here so check this out.
Now, for those of you that aren't familiar with Denvers Choppers, Denvers Choppers really started the long bike thing out of San Bernardino with Denver Mullins and Mondo Porras. Unfortunately, Denver left us years ago, but his legacy lives on through his bikes. What we found is a bike that's like the most neat chop - it's truly unique. It is a twin engine from 1945, custom build. I'd really love if they still have the jockey shift.
Let's check this out. As you can see, we've got the jockey shift right here. We've got the double primaries running the two engines from the front end, back to the rear. Truly another unique bike here at the Mama Tried Chopper Show. It's not only about choppers.
It's also about heritage. That's what I love about riding a Harley Davidson and being a part of the Harley Davidson family. So what we have here, is a 1911 belt drive single model 7A, coming to you straight from Waukesha, Wisconsin. This part of motor cycling came in and it became the Digger. The Digger really was brought in to the scene by Arlen Ness and he was the one that started, and honestly probably perfected it, in my opinion.
So what we have here is a '63 Panhead Digger courtesy of Mama Tried. Alright, that's it everybody. Mama Tried, 2018 is over and what a blast it was. So many great bikes from great builders. The after parties were insane, but you gotta come and see that for yourself.
I'm Nate Beck. Until next time, ride safe, wrench safe, and we'll see you on the road.
