Description

Ride and Rally with Fix My Hog in snowy Milwaukee for Mama Tried 2019. Pre-event kick off, parties, racing and a great motorcycle invitational show.

We’re not sure if there is a motorcycle event in the midwest that holds a candle to what Scott Johnson and Warren Heir Jr. have created in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. With its sixth year in the bag, it has organically grown through the love and support from not only fans but also sponsors, this years being Harley Davidson, S&S, Metzeler Motorcycle Tires, Vans, and the list goes on and on. It has become one of, if not the, ultimate custom bike event in the midwest that helps legions of riders get through the cold, snowy winters. Mama Tried is hosted at the The Eagles Ballroom in February over the course of four days culminating in the custom motorcycle show on Saturday and Sunday. Check it out.

Nate will be sharing some of the rides and rallies that he attends. He will give us a behind the scenes look at the promoters, sponsors, riders, competition entrants and winners.

Sit back and check out these videos and stop by our sponsors websites Gatorz and Harley-Davidson Footwear to learn more.

Welcome to Ride & Rally, with Fix My Hog, brought to you by, Gatorz Eyewear, fit, form, function proudly made in the USA. Footwear provided by Harley Davidson Footwear. What's up everybody and welcome to Fix My Hog, Ride & Rally 2019. I'm Nate Beck and this is a rally episode. I'm taking you guys over to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, which is not only the home of Harley Davidson, but also the home of the Mama Tried Chopper show. This is our second year covering Mama Tried, last year was absolutely insane and we can't wait to get back. For those of you that don't know what Mama Tried is, Mama Tried is one of the biggest chopper shows in the U.S. and it's really focused around home-built, custom-built, garage-built, all the old school stuff. Hard tails, knuckle heads, shovel heads, pam heads, but it also has a ton of cafe races too, which is really cool. And one build this year I'm really looking forward to seeing is that of Jeff Holt, formerly of Hot Bike Magazine, now with V-Twin Visionary, he's got a Milwaukee 8 that he put in an FXR, which I'm really stoked to see what that looks like, but we're about five hours out of Milwaukee right now. It's nice and sunny here in the twin cities. I've got my Gatorz Eyewear on and we're headed out. So we'll catch you guys in Milwaukee, we'll see you there. So we made it to Milwaukee, it wasn't a bad drive at all. We're here at the Harley Davidson museum, where the first of two pre parties is going down. This one is called shovel heads and sweethearts. We're going to go in there and listen to them cool 70's tunes, have a couple brews and then we're going to head over to Fuel Cafe. That is the infamous, crazy party that goes down. So let's see what's cracking in here and then we'll head over there. The pre parties were crazy. Flat Out Friday was absolutely insane, but this is what we're all here for, the main event, Mama Tried Motorcycle Show 2019 and the bikes. So one of the most unique builds I've seen thus far, is that of Kevin T. Bass, from Lakeville North High School. He's a, he's the STEM technology teacher and runs shopper class, this is what they've brought to Mama Tried this year. I'm here with John, S&S marketing manager, John what's going on man? We were over at Flat Out Friday last night, we're here at Mama Tried today, bringing out new items, such as clothing and talking about all of our pro stuff, knuckle heads, vans, new 124 kit for M8s, stealth air cleaners, teardrops and much, much more. 124 kit for M8s huh? All day, all day. As if they couldn't get any faster. Oh man, it's a beast to ride in them, but enjoyment it at the same time. Yeah. Yup. I was just down in, we were shooting Florida into the keys and I was on a new M8 with a 107. Okay. And that was ripping. I couldn't imagine doing it with a 124. It's a whole new world, you know what I'm saying? Yup. And we're brining it to you. If you've got the 107, you know bring it up to a 124. Yup. If you've got the 114, I'll bring it up to a 128. Nice, very, very cool. So where can the viewers see some of this stuff? You can always check it out at ss@scycle.com or you know contact your local dealer. Perfect, awesome John, well thanks so much for sitting down. All right, thanks man. Thank you. We're here with Tyler from TC Bros, how you doing today? Good, how are you? Good, thanks so much. We'll, here Mama Tried 2019, Tyler what's cracking over at TC Bros, whatcha got going on? You know we're still running a lot of our handlebars and the other hard parts that we're really known for, like the air cleaners and the foot controls and all that kind of stuff. Some of the newer additions for us are like handlebar risers, that's a really recent one and throttles. Okay. Like there's, they're mostly down here, I guess if you want to see a lot of different heights and styles, you know everything from like your chopper styles to your springer specific stuff and what not. Sure. To the universal throttle sets, you know for Harley stuff and for like the metric, you know like Yamaha specific 7/8s. You got 7/8s and one inch. Yup, yup. Cool. All the finishes and you know really minimalistic set up that you can eliminate your switches and- Sure. A lot of the other factory stuff, for like your custom builts. Absolutely, where can some of the subscribers see this and check it out? Best place to go is our website, TCBros.com. Perfect, Tcbros.com, check it out, brand new risers, throttled tunes, all kinds of crazy cool stuff. Tyler, thanks so much for your time man, have a good show. Yeah, thank you. Thank you. All right, we're with the Metzeler Motorcycle Tire booth, this is Tyler, how's it going man? Going great man, happy to be here. Yeah, it's a great show. So talk me through, you've got some new products coming out. Some really awesome stuff, what's going on here? All right, so the main reason we're here at Mama tried, is to release our brand new V-Twin tire Domestic Cruisetec, to the public. Our dealers kind of got a preview of it, but we wanted to come to a place with all kinds of motorcycles, all kinds of riders. Now the Metzeler Cruisetec, obviously V-Twin tire, this is our first real V-Twin offering, that is solely based on performance. Nice. You know we have the ME888 and that's our high-mileage tire and so for the rider going super long distances, all kinds of weather, that kind of thing, they're still going to stay towards that ME888, but the Cruisetec is for the guys that are, you know as I say, hate their floorboard. That really want to push the boundaries- Yeah. On their bikes, yeah. So some of the cool features about this, this is our first V-Twin tire. Okay. The rear tire is dual compound. Dual compound, yup. And the cool thing is the, the softer sides of the tire, that's the same compound we use on the front of the tire. Oh, okay. So even the front tire is super, super sticky. I know here at Mama Tried, you know we were talking about all kinds of riders and that's why we have the ME77 over here, now the ME77 that's a thread pattern that's been in our lineup since like the 60's. Sure. But what we did was, we brought new sizing in this year and you can see it on some bikes here at the show. Yup. Vintage thread pattern, modern performance. Nice. You know- So you get that look of the old chopper, but you get the reliability at the grip and the safety of like a newer tire. Right, right there's a lot of tires on the market that are actual tires from you know the 60's and 70's and so much has changed since then. Oh, absolutely. And yeah it might be, you know period correct, but at the same time there is a certain value to having fun on your bike and being able to ride in all conditions. Yup. That's when the ME77 bike is used. Where can people like find more information about your tires? More information is going to be at Metzeler.com. Cool. M-E-T-Z-E-L-E-R. Everybody forgets that 2nd E there. Or go see your local dealer. These are distributed through Tucker Beach Wynn and Drag specialties. Perfect. So if your local dealer has those two distributors, they can get our product. You know, we're not a new tire company. Yup. We made our first tire, as a bicycle tire in 1892. Wow. And since 1974 all we have done is motorcycle tires. Sure. That's all Metzeler does is motorcycles only. So we've been around a long time, people know us, go see your dealer or come over here to Mama Tried and see us here. Awesome, thank you so much man. No problem, thank you. And that's it from Mama Tried 2019. We're headed back to the twin cities and I'm absolutely exhausted man, but it was pretty sweet, between the pre parties at Harley Davidson and Fuel Cafe, the black jack races on Friday and then the main event on Saturday, if you haven't been to Mama Tried, it is absolutely the mid-west show to go to and check out for Harley Davidsons. One word of advice though, definitely wear some comfortable boots. Lot of standing and lot of walking around. Luckily I had the vented boots on by Harley Davidson Footwear and my feet are still pretty stoked. So anyways, until next time, that's it. Ride safe, rent safe. We'll see you on the road.
