Ironhead Sportster Front End Assembly
Kevin BaasDescription
Now we assemble the Ironhead Sportster front end. The brake caliper halves are disassembled and the brake pads are cleaned and inspected. These brake pads are held into position with brass rivets. For pad replacement, the brass rivets would be drilled out.
New pads would be secure after replacement rivers are pressed into place. The front fender is removed along with the speedometer, tachometer, and the headlight bucket. The lower tree cover is lifted in order to access and loosen the lower tree pinch bolts. The top fork caps are also loosened and removed.
Once the Ironhead Sportster front end forks are removed and drained, Kevin disassembles, cleans, and rebuilds the assemblies. They are reassembled with new fork seals and six ounces of fresh fork oil. Reassembly is performed in reverse, with replacement seals and hardware as needed.
