Next up, inspect exhaust for leaks. Obviously, first we gotta put the muffler back on because we had it off to do the axle nut torque and the rear brakes. So go ahead and put the muffler back on. Yes. Pivot that up. Look at your mount there. Just kinda wiggle that thing in there. And that'll drop down into that little slot for it. Pivot this around. Kinda keep an eye on 'til these bolts line up to their holes. All right. We'll get them started. A lot better design here on these mounting bolts. Now, keep in mind, this motorcycle has the stock exhaust on it. That never ever used to happen. I mean, I'd have a 25, 30 motorcycles in the shop and not one of them would have a stock exhaust. But nowadays, you know, people wanna, they wanna retain that two-year warranty. So they're getting a little nervous. They don't wanna void their warranty. They don't want a headache at the end of the day. They're running with stock exhaust. They're gonna tough it out. Some people don't care. First thing they do, they put a $1,200 exhaust system on. Either way, then you're gonna go back and double check somebody's work. So let's snug this up. And of course, over time, the more miles, the more time, the more moisture you get in your motorcycle, more problems you're gonna have with exhaust. Snug that up. Harley's got a torque spec for that. 38 to 43 foot pounds torque. We're gonna set her right at 40. These lower bolts, 119 to 144. I'm gonna set them right around 125 here. Now, had somebody put a set of slip-ons this bike and they were aftermarket, he'd probably wanna start looking at the mounting hardware here. Double check these guys down here. See if, you know. If you don't know who worked on it. See if they're all torqued to spec. Another thing you can do. Especially if it's got aftermarket exhaust. Is probably just really pay attention, you know, to the flange nuts up here. Just go in there and kinda give them a snug You know, just check them. I got a wobble-head socket here. Kinda makes it nice. Little short, 12-point socket, half inch. It's the kinda stuff you can check, you know? The bike's got O2 sensors. I mean, there's a lotta places it could leak. There's a little crossover here. So basically what we're gonna do when we run the motorcycle, Harley says you can put a rag over the end and listen for any audible leak. Just something you can check. I mean, you're gonna get to know the sound, the exhaust note of your motorcycle. And if it starts getting abnormally louder, you probably got an exhaust leak. So pretty straightforward stuff. And then of course, obviously, you wanna wipe your fingerprints off here 'cause if you don't, you'll kinda bake them into your exhaust system. You don't wanna do that. All right. Let's keep movin' on.
Could loose aftermarket slip on's cause the jugs (the larger part right under the spark plug) to get a hairline fracture crack right where the casting lines would be, due to excessive heat? I am new so forgive my lack of proper description lingo, thanks i appreciate it.
