Cam bearings in, that went smooth. If you're looking in your manual, they're talking about the breather gear space or washer. And what they're concerned about is if you're a breather gear assembler here, you had to order a new one or you got an aftermarket steel one, it's got this little washer here, comes in different thicknesses. So basically they're just saying, get a straight edge, and what you have to do is you kinda have to calculate that that gasket is gonna compress, they say 6000th of an inch. Now this gasket is a little newer style, they didn't have these back when they wrote that manual, so you kinda gotta take that measurement with a grain of salt. This gasket might not crush as much, or it could crush more. So basically I got my straight edge, I got the gasket, I gotta mock it up there, and they're saying it's gonna crush about 6000, so you take that measurement, you look at it, it's anywhere from like two to 16 thousandths of an inch. So that's another thing you gotta pay attention to. Especially if you're putting in a new breather gear, then you gotta probably order up a variety of spacers or do a calculation with the old one and then go from there. But if you don't pay attention to it and there's no clearance, you know what's gonna happen. It's gonna tie that gear up. So something else to pay attention to, while we're in here looking at this, I'll get the gasket out of the way for now, but really you're trying to make sure that somebody hasn't been working on this bike. So you're taking your flashlight and you're looking in there, I can see a little bit of debris, we're gonna clean all that out obviously. But I'm looking at the shaft from the oil pump coming over to this gear, there's a circlip on the end of it. Now if somebody's been in plane and over the years, they've worked real hard to get that circlip off and on. And what concerns me is, did they put it on correctly? Did that little circlip get stressed out getting put on? 'Cause you know what, it's not easy to do. In fact the oil pump on a shovel head or a evil, and it's kind of a sensitive deal. It's not like your twin cam, or it's boom all right in there and pretty easy to work with, this thing's a little more complicated. The gaskets are real delicate when you put it into place. When you torque it to spec, you can over torque it. The other thing is, while we're in here, you're looking at your bike, you're looking at these oil lines. Now this motorcycle doesn't come with the later model style evolution oil lines. They've got 'em with like a compression ring in there, goes from the oil pump up to the oil filter housing. And over a period of time, those things succumb to heat and they're always sweating. I get high mileage bikes in, and we're trying to fix all these oil leaks, but I see that the oil pump lines are leaking, but it's too far to go in for me to do it as far as a tuneup, and it's costly. So I always make a note of it, your oil pump lines are leaking. 'Cause when you get your bike home from me working on it you don't have to call me and say, "Hey, my bike's got an oil leak." But now you're working on your bike, so now you gotta decide, "Well, do I wanna go in and replace all these lines of my oil pump lines?" That's your call. So keep it in mind. You're halfway there, maybe you wanna go all the way in. Maybe you hurt the oil pump and you have to go in. So that's gonna be your call, but something you're gonna wanna pay attention to. All right, let's keep rolling on down the list, next up we're gonna check the pinion gear out on the new cam.
