Deutsch Connectors
Bob LaRosaThe name might be hard to pronounce but Bob shows us how easy it is to work with them. Have the right tools and patience and get to it. Updated video to define Deutsch Connectors a little better.
Another great article in the July 2013 issue of American Iron Magazine.

Harley Davidson as a manufacturer has used a multitude of different connectors throughout the years. Anytime you're gonna get involved in any electrical connector, do a little research. Make sure you know what the connector is you're gonna take apart. Make sure you know how to re-install pins. If you have to extend the wire or if you happen to damage a pin.
This particular connector is a Deutsch style connector. It has a weatherproof seal. It has a locking tab. You can gently pry it up. Take it out of the connector.
Once that locking tab is removed, it exposes the end of the pins. All you need to really do, slide straight in underpin, pull back on the tab, and you're able to remove the wire. You'll know on the backside of a Deutsch connector there is also another weather resistant seal. These seals must remain intact and in place. As far as installing them, you slide them through the weather resistant seal, push them in gently till they lock firmly in place.
That point, once all the connectors are re-installed into the plug, you can then install or I should say re-install the locking tab. Push down on it firmly. You'll hear it click into place. And then re-install the weather resistant seal.
Nice, but this is a Molex connector, NOT a Deutsch.
Glad I took the time to watch the Videos and it answered a few questions I had been pondering.
