X Country Sportster Ride: St. Augustine to Daytona Beach

Nate Beck
Duration:   3  mins

Description

This was the day that after a beach-side ride down the A1A, I’d be rolling into Daytona Beach completing a 2,000 mile ride that took me across the country from the Twin Cities in Minnesota to Daytona Beach Florida. 95% of the miles I’ve put down on motorcycles have been inland and I still find riding along the ocean to be quite a special experience. Especially when the road is right next to the beach which is the case with the A1A headed south out of St. Augustine.

When you’re done, make sure to check out more photos on our Blog.

Welcome to "Ride & Rally with Fix My Hog." Brought to you by Dennis Kirk. "We ship today." Good morning, everyone, and welcome to "Fix My Hog Ride & Rally 2021." We're here in St. Augustine, Florida, and this is the last episode, the final stretch, on our ride across the country on a Sportster. Today, we're hitting the A1A, and heading down to Daytona Beach, Florida, legendary for Biketoberfest and Daytona Bike Week. So we're gonna suit up and do this one more time. It's gonna be a good one. So stay tuned. Pulling out of St. Augustine and spending that time on the bike, between old town and before A1A, goes actually and hits the beach. It's a great time to reflect and I was just flooded with emotions, thinking about the ride we have just done. "Fix My Hog Ride & Rally 2021," we rode a Sportster across the country. You know, reflecting back on the ride: Minneapolis to Prairie du Chien, down along the Mississippi River and Bluff Country, crossing Wisconsin farmland over to Milwaukee, seeing the Harley history at the Harley Museum, the Juneau factory, the site of the original shed, getting to test ride a brand new Pan America, heading down through Indianapolis Motor Speedway, pulling my bike into the infield there, then cruising down the Great Smoky Mountains, Tail of the Dragon, 318 curves and 11 miles, Tail of the Dragon, 318 curves and 11 miles, wheels through time, jaw on the floor at everything. jaw on the floor at everything. Matt walks there, has curated there, and his father, Dale, you know, and then coming down through Charleston and then finally making it into Florida, and riding along the beach into Daytona Beach. Daytona Beach is so famous with bikes. Getting to ride down along A1A, look out over the ocean to get there, I spent so many miles inland, landlocked, Midwest mountains. Midwest mountains. You know that anytime I get to look out over the ocean while riding it truly is special, and this is one of those rides, from San Augustine to Daytona Beach, that it's just you get to look long, you get to look far, and then you get to pull in and put your bike under the Daytona Beach sign. This is what riding a motorcycle and riding a Harley-Davidson, specifically, is all about. And then of course, after you get the picture with the sign, check out the ocean, check out the pier, you have to ride down Main Street, Daytona Beach. Main Street is what goes off during both Biketoberfest and Daytona Bike Week, and it's filled with biker bars, restaurants, leather shops, and then a couple of turns later on International Speedway Boulevard, find yourself here, Daytona International Speedway. And here we are: Daytona Beach, Florida. Across the country on a Sportster. "Fix My Hog Ride & Rally 2021." What an awesome series. It was so great being able to ride across the country on my bike, with parts outfitted from the fine folks at denniskirk.com. I hope you guys enjoyed it as much as I did.
