Cobra Freeway Bars
Bob LaRosaDescription
Bob LaRosa gives us a look at the Cobra Freeway Bars or Case Guards as they call them. Most Harley’s do not come with freeway bars, engine gaurds and this optional accessory from Cobra gives a great opportunity to customize our rides. Some riders add them to go for the retro look and to add some style to their ride. With that, comes the opportunity to add highway pegs and even custom lighting. As Bob notes, these will not help if a collision happens on the road but they do give us some added protection if the motorcycle goes over when loading a passenger or even during a parking lot incident.

Hi, I'm Bob LaRosa. Welcome to Fix My Hog. We've partnered up with Cobra to review another very nice, very well-built accessory for your motorcycle. These are Cobra's freeway bars or they're also known as case guards. I've had people refer to them as engine guards. I've also heard them called crash guards. Again, I do not care for the word "crash guard" because although they do offer limited protection they certainly will not avoid any type of direct accident damage. Don't ever depend on what's known as a freeway bar or a case guard to protect your legs, yourself, your passenger or the motorcycle during anything that is more involved than let's say a parking lot tip over, or a passenger getting on a motorcycle quickly catching you off guard and a motorcycle tipping besides offering great low speed protection. They do give a great retro look. They also leave you a place to Mount additional highway pegs or they also have led lights that bolt directly to the freeway or case guard style bar. These bars are available in inch and a quarter, standard diameter, nicely chromed. And also this pair is what's known as Cobra's fatty design. Which is an inch and a half diameter tube, nice beefy design, nice Chrome plated. Very easy installation. You're going to use a couple tools and you'll use some supplied hardware. You'll basically pick up bolt mounting locations at the base of the floorboards and the one center up in the V or the notch of the frame. Again, installation is easy. It does offer limited protection, but again, it gives you a great retro look and it also gives you an area to Mount additional accessories.
I'm trying to ount engine gaurds on a 2003 Sporters 883, any videos for that? I can't find where they mount on the bottom.
