Fix My Hog Editors

Born Free Rally 2019

Fix My Hog Editors
Duration:   4  mins

Description

Ride and Rally with Fix My Hog as Dennis Santopietro heads to the 2019 Born Free Rally.

We strapped on the camera and headed out of San Diego for a quick one and a half hour ride to Oak Canyon Ranch and the Born Free Rally. Fairly uneventful ride up the 5, plenty of fellow riders heading up to the show, able to crack it open going through Camp Pendleton. I always enjoy going somewhere new and I found that when I turned off the 5 onto El Toro Road and into the canyons for thirty minutes of fun.

The show is set up very well with an open grass area for riders to park and show off their motorcycles. The vendors circle the event and there is plenty of food with 805 brewery out in force supplying the brews.

Check out the ride and make sure to find some time to make it to Born Free here in Southern California.

Welcome to Ride & Rally with Fix My Hog, brought to you by Gatorz Eyewear. Fit, form, function, proudly made in the USA. Footwear provided by Harley-Davidson footwear. Hey, Fix My Hoggers. Dennis from Fix My Hog here. Just wanted to give you a Ride & Rally update for the Born Free show, number 11 here in Southern California. And it was cool, had a nice chance to ride up from San Diego to Silverado, California, which is basically the Irvine area up to Oak Canyon Ranch for the Born Free 11. Great show. As you can see, you know, pretty much took off out of San Diego right onto the highway with the, and if you remember Born Free, depending on how old you are, it was lions, and that whole show was running in my head the whole time, which was cool. So straight shot up the 5, pretty, you know, boring, straightforward, got to open up a little bit. But, then once, you know, you get off on El Toro Road, and that's a nicer 25, 30 minute ride, up El Toro Road into the canyons, and then right into the Oak Canyon Ranch, which has a lake there. Pretty impressed, I mean, you know, you pull in, and it's one big ass show. It's really cool, you know, on the grass area thousands of bikes are parked, and it's all within this circular area, and all the vendors surrounding it. I like the set up. The bikes on the grass scattered everywhere really did make it feel like one big bike show, and you're looking around, and you're checking out everyone's bikes that are parked there. Super cool, walking around, checking out folks, and Vans had a skate ramp set up. Not something that I can do. The vertigo might've kicked in for me just watching these dudes, but that was fun. Walked around the vendor area, said hi to some folks. Good to see Paul from, from Window Breaks, and Steve and his wife from PowerCo, and John at S & S, and several more. I mean, it's a, it's a good show. It's, it's got great support by its partners. And for me, it was good to go up and see the bikes and see the shows and see a lot of people in the industry that you don't get to see all the time if you're not going to some of the big industry shows. So that was cool. Walked in, saw a lot of the bikes, especially in a crowd favorite area. You know, walked around, saw some very unique builds and some old and new ones triumph. Some Harley, Some Indians. A favorite of mine was the red Pan Handel that was there, really enjoyed that. Then walked over to the main builder area to the invited builders. Very impressed art and diversity of the builds, you know, so many different brands and models and basically pieces of art and the builders did a really amazing job. It's cool, you know, the, the bikes were on display. The band was playing, food was cooking, beer was flowing. 805 Brewery was a huge sponsor on some of the booths up there. And the other cool thing that I've always liked at all these rallies that I've been to is the Wall of Death. The Ives Brothers Wall of Death was here, and they don't disappoint, I mean, you know, from the first guy going up in a go-kart, to the brothers going up one-by-one, and then two zig-zagging, and it's just, it's always a great show. So, if you haven't had a chance, come out and see the Born Free show. It's a really cool show. It brings you all together, shows the diversity of the industry and build, and until next time, ride safe.
