Sportster Cuts Off After 3 Minutes

I’ve replaced the carburetor which I thought was the problem but it hasn’t helped. I have an 883 Sportster with 1200 kit 1998; my bike runs 3 min then cuts off. Help…
Hi Wanda,I would buy a new vehicle attitude sensor from the dealer, not aftermarket. It should be located under left side triangle shaped cover. Also you can try the main circuit breaker in the same area. Does the headlight go out at the same time? Wrench Safe, FMH

To FMH, got a 2004 883, what the hell is an attitude sensor, where is it and what does it do? I get this loud chirp when I go around a turn sometimes, could that be the "tude" sensor? I'm surprised mine runs at all, if it senses my nasty Tude.

Sounds like you have a weak ignition coil, its an inexpensive fix if you diy.

I had the same year sporty and had the same trouble. It was traced to the ignition module. As it heated up it would lose electric current.
