INNER FAIRING BRACKET REPAIR
A very common issue that we see on a weekly basis is broken fairing support brackets on FLHT & FLHX model Harley Davidsons. These poorly designed support brackets are on every fork mounted fairing from 1996, all the way through, 2013.
Fork mounted fairing models include Electra Glide, Ultra Glide, and Street Glide. (Road Glides are excluded as they have frame mounted fairings) There are two main inner fairing support brackets that mount along side the triple trees and extend upward. There are also two speaker support brackets that help to support the outer most, left side right side, ends of the fairing assembly. Both sets of brackets have a designated left and right side bracket.
Over time, you may have noticed that the fairing on your Harley Davidson has started to gradually vibrate more and more excessively. If so, this can very well be the result of broken fairing brackets. Replacing these brackets with factory replacement parts is acceptable. However, you can usually expect to experience the same issue in approximately the same amount of miles or earlier.
In The Shop, we like to make this repair one time. We prefer to use a repair kit offered by Alloy Art. They offer their “Strong Arm” inner fairing and speaker support brackets. These, bolt on, fairing support brackets are made of super strong, light-weight, injection molded, high impact nylon. They are lighter than the stock, steel, brackets and have superior strength. The speaker brackets are designed extra wide and extra deep in order to accommodate larger, aftermarket speakers. In fact, if you are thinking about running a heavy amplifier and larger speakers; these brackets are a must.
The brackets fit 1996 – 2013 Electra Glide, Ultra Glide, and Street Glide. Best of all; they are manufactured and assembled in California USA! Check out these photos of the before, during, and after on this 1998 Ultra that we had In The Shop.
